Fifty animals found in and around a Ferrum area house

Public Safety officials in Franklin County got more than they bargained for on Tuesday when they executed a search warrant in the Ferrum area. They found 50 animals in and around the house.

Louie was home for Christmas. The 70-pound brown and white boxer had been missing from Michael and Legay Barber’s home on Logan Martin Lake for 13 months. Then the family spotted his photo on the Web site of a Calhoun County animal shelter.

BOSSIER CITY, La. — A pit bull puppy chewed off four of a baby girl’s toes while the child’s parents slept, police here said Monday. The parents were booked on charges of child desertion and criminal negligence and were being held in the Bossier Parish Jail pending an initial court appearance.
